Learn to make a landscape by erasing paint.

This workshop explored the traditional method of underpainting with Betsy VanOot. Using old-world pigments like Burnt Sienna or Prussian Blue, the workshop participants learned how to search the canvas for the darkest darks and the lightest lights using the landscape as their muse. While working on their monochromatic images, participants learned how Van Gogh and other masters planned out their work with these underpaintings, which stand as beautiful pieces on their own.
